Venous Care Consult

A consult is appropriate for any individual experiencing chronic swelling of the legs, poorly healing leg wounds, leg pain, or unsightly, incompetent, or enlarged veins.

Endovenous Laser Ablation of truncal veins

EVLA is a quick, minimally invasive laser procedure that leaves no scars, has a short and relatively pain-free postoperative recovery period, and is performed under local anaesthesia in the Venous Care Centre. An EVLA consult may be appropriate for patients who have symptoms related to incompetent veins.

Sclerotherapy

Through Ultrasound Imaging guidance, this method uses a tiny needle placed into a vein, which supplies varicose veins. Liquid (sclerosant) is infused, which scars the vein closed.

Service Order

Requests for any of these services are accepted on the order of a physician and the patient’s request. As part of the consult, a complete history, physical, interview, and ultrasound Doppler with venous mapping will be ordered and performed. Referrals are accepted by either phone call or fax. The physician’s office should fax the venous consult order, and Center staff will arrange for all the rest.
